Antler Farms® Raw Maca is 100% pure, raw, certified organic Peruvian maca root powder from the Central Andes.
Maca is a root vegetable native to Peru that has been cultivated here as a food and medicine for over 2,000 years.
Our maca is grown outdoors in the higher elevations of the Central Andes, where the crop receives natural sunlight and fresh water, while being free of pesticides and environmental pollution. These conditions provide the perfect setting for farming the highest quality maca root.
At the peak of potency, our maca is harvested and sundried. This traditional and minimal way of processing maca root protects the nutrient value while also improving the flavor. Maca is a superfood with a strong nutritional profile - rich in amino acids, phytonutrients, fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamin and minerals.
Maca root powder has an earthy, nutty, and creamy taste.
What are the Benefits of Maca?
Maca has a number of nutritional, medicinal and general health benefits, which is why it is sometimes referred to as “Peruvian Ginseng.”
Maca root acts as an adaptogen - a plant with special properties that can help the body resist emotional or physical stressors. It helps the body to cope with stress and brings the body back into balance. Consumers of maca may feel an overall feeling of wellness in addition to an increase in libido and energy.
Maca provides powerful adrenal support which combats stress and fatigue.
ADRENAL SUPPORT: The primary benefit of maca root is its ability to enhance and strengthen the function of the endocrine system, which includes all the body’s glands as well as the hormones they secrete. These glands and hormones control many vital processes, including brain function, digestion, the nervous system and sexual performance.
Maca is deeply nourishing for your adrenal glands. Adrenals help produce stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. When they get taxed due to chronic stress, poor diet, or excessive caffeine consumption, our adrenals can become fatigued. Symptoms of adrenal fatigue include absentmindedness, intense stress, muscle weakness, extreme tiredness, low sex drive and a general feeling of malaise.
Maca helps replenish the adrenals and reverse these symptoms.
Maca can help balance and restore hormones in both men and women, boosting libido, sexual function and fertility.
SEXUAL FUNCTION: Maca was first discovered because it increased fertility rates in livestock. This led Peruvian men and women to eat maca when they are trying to conceive a child.Unique nutrients in maca called macaenes and macamides are believed to be the secret compounds behind maca’s ability to restore sex hormone balance in both men and women. Several studies have shown that maca can support healthy sperm production by increasing sperm counts and quality. Research suggests that maca can also boost libido and improve sexual functioning in both men and women.
Maca is used to support treatment of a host of hormone-related disorders, including low sex drive, infertility, low sperm count, impotence, and menopausal and premenstrual symptoms.
Clinical trials have shown that maca may positively impact energy and stamina. That’s why maca is commonly taken as a supplement by avid athletes and bodybuilders.
How is Antler Farms® Raw Maca Grown and Harvested?
Antler Farms® Raw Maca is grown outdoors, without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or artificial fertilizers.
On the Junin Plateau of the Andes Mountains, our maca plants are cultivated by small farmers on family plots. The weather here is hostile for humans and most plants. At 14,000 feet above sea level, the temperatures can plummet below zero. However, these conditions are ideal for growing maca. It thrives on this harsh landscape under the intense sun, strong winds and freezing temperatures.
When maca reaches maturity, they are at their nutritional peak. Our maca is harvested at this time and dried in the mountain sun. This improves the taste and flavor, while also preserving maca's qualities. The lack of oxygen and appropriate temperature provide the best drying conditions with the minimal oxidation and nutrient loss.
Once dried, the maca root is separated from the leaves, milled into a fine powder, and packed for shipping. By keeping our processing to a minimum, Antler Farms® Raw Maca maintains its high nutritional value when delivered to your kitchen.
Antler Farms® Raw Maca is certified organic Peruvian maca root powder that is 100% pure, raw, vegan and gluten free with no GMOs used.
Maca can be added to smoothies, juice, coffee, and other drinks, or used as an ingredient in recipes.
