Antler Farms® Raw Acai is 100% pure, certified organic Brazilian acai powder from wild acai palm trees.

Our acai is sourced from acai palm trees that grow wild in the Amazon rainforest, free of pesticides and environmental pollution. The acai berry has been the main staple food by native communities for centuries. It is highly sought after due to their high nutritional content, being rich in natural

antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, and essential fatty acids. Acai is classified as a superfood and is one of the healthiest fruits on the planet.

Visually, acai berries are a deep purple in color, resembling large blueberries. The taste is often described as a delicious blend of berries and chocolate.

What are the Benefits of Acai?

Açai has a high concentration of anthocyanins – a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The antioxidant activity of açai is much better than most other fruits.

Acai was relatively unknown until the last decade or so. But since being discovered outside of South America for their amazing health benefits as well as their delicious taste, acai has become very popular, making their way into health food stores, smoothie shops and local cafes.

What is it about these Brazilian berries that make them so good for you?

  • HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS: Antioxidants are vital in our diet. They protect our bodies against the effects of stress, pollution, radiation and disease. These stressors create free radicals in the body which causes cellular damage and deterioration. However, antioxidants help to neutralize free radicals to stop oxidative stress and damage.

Acai berries contain an antioxidant known as anthocyanins. Anthocyanins give fruits and vegetables their reddish-blue-purple color. If you are wondering about how acai stacks up to other berries, acai has 10x more anthocyanins than blueberries (and up to 30x more than red wine).

Studies show that anthocyanins possess some of the strongest physiological effects of any plant compounds. By helping the body remain more resilient to the effects of free radicals, acai is beneficial for nearly every body system including our cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, neurological, and immune system.

Other antioxidants found in acai include proanthocyanidins, protocatechuic acid, and vitamins A, C, and E.
Acai contains beneficial omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, as well as omega-9.
  • RICH IN FATTY ACIDS: Our bodies need essential fatty acids to function well. The brain, organs, skin, hair, circulatory system, and reproductive system all need the essential fatty acid to operate. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids because they cannot be manufactured by the human body. They must be ingested.

Açai contains omega-3 and high amounts of omega-6 and omega-9. Omega fatty acids are heart healthy fats. They help reduce the LDL-cholesterol level and raise good HDL-cholesterol. They also lower blood pressure and reduce cardiac and cardiovascular disease.

How is Antler Farms® Raw Acai Grown and Harvested?

Antler Farms® Raw Acai is grown outdoors without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or artificial fertilizers.

Our acai berries are sourced from the wild açaí palms in the Amazon rainforest. The harvest season occurs over a three-month period every year beginning in July. It starts when the color of the berry transforms from green to a deep purple, signaling its ripeness. The fruit are handpicked by local farmers who ascend to the top of the trees to collect the clusters of berries.

The acai is then quickly transported through waterways to nearby acai processing plants. Here, the acai is ozone washed or pasteurized to remove bacteria and chemicals, then juiced and pulped, before being freeze dried into its powdered form.

Açai is highly perishable. The entire process is completed within 24 hours of harvest to maintain its nutrition and freshness. Any longer than that and the fruit begins to deteriorate.

Note that many acai powders on the market are spray dried rather than freeze dried. Freeze drying is superior in every respect to spray drying. Spray-dried acai powders are an inexpensive alternative with far less nutritional value (read below).

Antler Farms® Raw Acai is certified organic Brazilian acai powder that is 100% pure, raw, vegan and gluten free with no GMOs used.

WHAT CAUSES THE COLOR DIFFERENCE IN ACAI SUPPLEMENTS?

If you search for acai powder on the market, you will notice that some powders are deep, dark purple like Antler Farms® Raw Acai while other powders are a bright, light pink color. The color difference is caused by the method of drying the acai and has a huge effect on the nutritional value of the product.

The dark purple color is indicative of freeze drying. The light pink color is indicative of spray drying.

Spray dried acai causes product integrity issues. The first problem is that it requires heating the acai, sometimes to very high temperatures. This removes many of the nutrients and natural enzymes in the acai.

The second problem is that the spray drying process requires the use of a carrier, usually maltodextrin, to dry the acai. The acai is mixed with the carrier before drying and remains in the end product after drying. It constitutes 40% of the end product! The light color of spray dried acai powder is partially a result of acai being diluted. Because you are no longer getting pure acai, spray dried acai products are much cheaper.

Freeze drying, on the other hand, uses no heat or carriers. Antler Farms® Raw Acai comes from the best source and uses cold processing technology so it retains up to 99% of its original nutritional content.
